Christoph Fiedler is a lawyer and managing director for European and media policy at MVFP – Media Association of the Free Press, the German association of magazine publishers. He is chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of (EMMA) and professor of media law at the University of Leipzig. In his dissertation he dealt with media law, censorship and fundamental rights, he published another monograph on freedom of expression in a networked world and published on questions of media law in the context of digitalization and Europeanization. As an expert, he took part in several hearings in the German Bundestag and the European Parliament. Topics of these hearings included data retention and the protection of journalistic sources, general data protection law, a German law to strengthen press freedom and network neutrality.
