CMBA celebrates World Intellectual Property Day | 26.04.2013

The Creative Media Business Alliance, CMBA, is celebrating World Intellectual Property Day today, 26 April 2013.

CMBA is an informal grouping gathering some of Europe's top media and creative businesses and industry associations, including EMMA. We are celebrating the World Intellectual Property Day because the creative and media industry is a key driver of growth and employment in Europe -- we invest, create, and engage to provide citizens with authoritative information, diverse cultural products and the best entertainment experience. We also drive innovation, enable new business models, support tomorrow's great artists and talens, and deliver the next generation of creative content to citizens in Europe.

We are celebrating World Intellectual property days because

  • copyright and editorial responsibility promote free expression in a democratic society based on the rule of law.
  • copyright as a fundamental right of property rewards risk and responsibility for sustainable cultural creation and innovation.
  • copyright and contractual freedom attract investment in innovation and creativity for a multibillion EU business and employment.
