Join us next week for a Future Media Lounge session on press freedom

On Tuesday, 27 September 2016 the Future Media Lab. will be hosting the 6th session of the Future Media Lounge, a debate series that takes place in the European Parliament. In this session, titled "Press Freedom in Europe: is it time to raise the alarm?" speakers and commentators will be continuing the discussions that took place in Wroclaw, Poland at the (R)EVOLUTION OF EUROPE'S PRESS conference on 1 July.

Specifically, this session will take a critical look at what the EU does (or does not) do in order to support free and independent media across Europe by discussing some of the relevant policies that have a direct or indirect impact on media freedom. To already have an idea of what will be discussed, watch the summary video of the Wroclaw press freedom conference below.

The speakers for this session include Mark Dekan, CEO of Ringier Axel Springer (CH); Pauline Ades-Mevel, Head of EU-Balkans and New Media Desk at Reporters Without Borders (FR); and Jane Whyatt, Project Manager at the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (DE). Additionally, MEP Michal Boni (EPP/Poland), MEP Rebecca Harms (Greens/Germany) and MEP Andrew Lewer (ECR/United Kingdom) will be joining as commentators.
