Data Protection: EMMA & ENPA raise concerns for press freedom following Civil Liberties Committee vote

EMMA, the European Magazine Media Association, and ENPA, the European Newspaper Publishers' Association, have raised concerns that the approach adopted by the European Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee undermines press freedom and directly affects the future of press subscriptions across Europe.

In view of the future discussions in the Parliament and in the Council, ENPA and EMMA urge EU decision-makers to reconsider the compromises adopted in full respect of European democratic and fundamental values, including press freedom, and to ensure that the final outcome is not to the detriment of the press sector in Europe.
