With more than 200 high level delegates and an impressive programme – including the French Minister of Economy, Arnaud Montebourg, Axel Springer Executive Vice-President, Christoph Keese, and Lagardere Active CEO, Denis Oliviennes – OIP opened on Thursday, 15 May 2014 in Paris a debate about neutral search in the internet.
The speakers referred to the ongoing Google competition case at EU level and criticised heavily the weak approach of the European Commission: a settlement based on the third remedy proposal of Google will not restore competition and will have a dramatic impact on Europe’s digital economy and pluralism. OIP just joined the group of complainants in the Google competition case. The event also aimed to raise public awareness for the importance of “internet neutrality” for consumers.
