The European Magazine Media Association, EMMA, welcomes the decision of the European Commission to give Google a last chance to offer remedies with respect to concerns that it gives preference to its own content compared to content of third parties, such as publishers.
“It is important that the European Commission ensures a complete and sustainable resolution of all concerns that have been expressed in the past regarding Google’s dominant position in the market of online search”, says EMMA President David Hanger.
Any mandatory commitment of Google, being the dominant search engine in most European Member States, should be discussed extensively in an open and transparent procedure.
Many members of EMMA are actively involved in national and European complaints against the search engine Google, as its dominant position across Europe undermines search neutrality.
The European Magazine Media Association, is the unique and complete representation of Europe’s magazine media, which is today enjoyed by millions of consumers on various platforms, encompassing both paper and digital formats.
